Mountaineering Ireland’s Spring Gathering 2012

Mountaineering Ireland’s Spring Gathering 2012 will focus on the Comeragh Mountains.
This year’s Spring Gathering will be hosted by the Peaks Mountaineering Club and it will be based at Hotel Minella, Clonmel.
The weekend offers members an opportunity to experience the Comeraghs through the lens of the Peaks Mountaineering Club, take part in quality workshops and be part of a passionate community of hillwalkers and climbers.
The Spring Gathering will commence on Friday, 09 March with a presentation on Renland, East Greenland of the 2011 Irish expedition and their story of challenging conditions, unfulfilled expectations but a rewarding team experience.
The activities on Saturday include a heritage walk led by local historian, Michael Desmond, a number of hilllwalks in the Comeraghs led by the Peaks Mountaineering Club, rock climbing in Ballykeeffe Quarry, workshops for Club Walk Leaders, Environmental Officers with Éanna Ní Lamhna, GPS Workshop and much more.
Sunday includes a number of workshops focused on Upland Forums, Mountain Meitheal, Club Training and a climbing in the Comeraghs.
